As a small museum that also serves as the Visitor Center for Seneca Falls, we are seeking a highly motivated and creative Social Media, Marketing, and Events Specialist to join our team and help us expand our digital presence, engage our community, and create memorable experiences for our visitors.
Position Overview:
The Social Media, Marketing, and Events Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies, managing social media accounts, and coordinating events that promote the museum’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of creativity, organizational skills, and marketing knowledge, with a passion for art, culture, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management:
- Create and execute engaging content across multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) to increase the museum’s visibility and engagement.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to foster an online community.
- Collaborate to produce high-quality visuals, videos, and posts that align with museum branding and messaging.
- Track and analyze social media metrics to optimize engagement and reach.
Marketing Strategy:
- Develop and implement marketing campaigns for exhibitions, events, and educational programs.
- Manage email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, event invitations, and special announcements.
- Collaborate with external partners, sponsors, and media outlets to promote museum activities and enhance visibility.
- Conduct market research to understand target audiences and develop marketing materials that resonate with them.
Event Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute in-person and virtual events, including exhibit openings, educational programs, workshops, and special events.
- Work with vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of events.
- Oversee event promotion through social media, email campaigns, and community outreach.
- Manage event logistics, including budgeting, scheduling, and post-event follow-up.
Content Creation & Copywriting:
- Write compelling segments for social media, promotional materials, press releases, and other communication platforms.
- Assist in producing content for the museum’s website, blog, and marketing materials.
- Ensure that all written content aligns with the museum’s voice and messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-4 years of experience in social media management, marketing, event planning, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Creative mindset with attention to detail.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) and social media management tools is a plus.
- Passion for museums, culture, and community engagement.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in event planning and coordination.
- Familiarity with website management or content management systems (CMS).
- Basic photography and videography skills.
- Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies.
