Located in the rehabilitated and historic 1844 Seneca Knitting Mill in Seneca Falls, NY, the Hall is poised to continue its tradition of growth, outreach, and impact.  The Hall’s building offers numerous opportunities for programming, community outreach, and new exhibits.  An ambitious, forward-looking strategic plan marks the path forward. Small but mighty, the Hall has an annual budget of just over a million dollars and a board of directors committed to its growth on the national stage.

The new Executive Director will provide leadership, vision and direction to the Hall by setting its operational and cultural tone, coordinating with the Board on long-term planning and direction, implementing board policies, directing business and operational functions, and fostering resource development and membership growth. 

Major functional areas include Organizational Leadership, Financial Management & Resource Development, Induction (odd-numbered years), Community Relations & Organizational Advocacy.

Professional Experience and Skills

  • Senior or executive management experience in a nonprofit
  • A record of success in fundraising working with donors, foundations, sponsors and government-related funding sources.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills with the ability to network and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Strong management and organizational skills in leading staff and volunteer teams.
  • Experience working collaboratively with boards of trustees or boards of directors
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in museum studies, museum management, business, public administration n, non-profit management, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong leadership
