Summary 

Social Media and Digital Content Producer will play a key role in enhancing the museum's online presence and engaging with the digital audience. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy, creating compelling digital content, and managing various digital platforms to promote the museum's exhibits, events, and educational initiatives. This person will also fill in as needed at the front desk of the Museum. Some evening hours may be required. This position works Sunday through Thursday, 9AM - 5PM. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Social Media Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy aligned with the museum's goals and target audience.
  • Manage and oversee all social media accounts, including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Youtube, LinkedIn, and others.
  • Foster community engagement through active participation in online conversations and discussions related to the museum's themes and subject matter.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries from the online community in a timely and professional manner.

Content Creation:

  • Create high-quality and visually appealing digital content, including images, videos, infographics, and other multimedia elements.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to generate content that highlights exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs.
  • Lead  media  production needs for and during programs and special events, including recording audio and video of in-person programs, taking photos as needed, and recording voice-overs
  • Initiate in-depth research of various historic topics for use in social media content.
  • Ability to conduct video interviews and edit both short and longform video content for various museum social platforms. 

Digital Marketing:

  • Implement paid and organic digital marketing campaigns to promote museum events, exhibitions, and other initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of digital marketing efforts using analytics tools to optimize strategies.
  • Work with external vendors, influencers, and partners to expand the museum's digital reach.

Cross-Platform Management:

  • Coordinate and synchronize content across various digital platforms to ensure a cohesive and unified online presence.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in social media and digital content production.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, communications, and education departments, to align digital content with overall organizational objectives.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators to assess the success and impact of social media and digital content initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports to share insights and recommend improvements.

Crisis Management:

  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans for social media platforms.
  • Address and manage any negative or controversial content with a strategic and positive approach.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure all digital content adheres to copyright laws, privacy policies, and industry best practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in social media algorithms and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Experience working with DAM

Qualifications 

 

  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, & keen attention to detail & deadlines 
  • Exceptional experience shooting with cameras and AV equipment
  • Excellent organizational & prioritization skills 
  • Strong writing, editing, & communications skills 
  • Experience with data analytics 
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Film Production, or a related field preferred. 
  • Proven experience in social media management and digital content creation, particularly with reels
  • Strong knowledge of social media trends, platforms, and best practices. 
  • Knowledge of Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, and other Adobe editing software preferred.
  • Flexibility in working museum events on evenings or weekends, as required 

 

COMPENSATION: This position pays an annual salary of $60,000 for full-time. Full-time employees are eligible for a 403 (b) retirement plan with annual budget-based employer contribution; generous vacation, personal, and sick time; and a holiday schedule that honors religious practices within the staff.
