About the Role

The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing the Children's Museum at Saratoga's mission to inspire curiosity, creativity, and learning through play. This position leads fundraising initiatives, cultivates donor and community relationships, and supports strategic growth so the Museum can continue delivering high-quality exhibits, programs, and experiences for children and families.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement — Manage annual giving campaigns, donor communications, and stewardship activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Annual Fund and Corporate Sponsorships — This position is responsible for crafting annual fund requests and sending out requests 4 times a year. This role also creates corporate fundraising materials and sends out quarterly sponsorship updates and asks.
  • Grant Writing— Work with the development team to research, write, and submit grant proposals.

Events — Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, member events, and community engagement activities that reflect the Museum’s mission and values. This work is done in coordination with the Marketing & Events Manager.

  • Campaign Support — Assist with capital campaigns, sponsorship programs, and special fundraising initiatives.
  • Marketing and Communications — Work with marketing team to create fundraising materials, and annual impact reports along with other materials as needed.
  • Collaboration Across Teams — Work closely with education and marketing teams to align development efforts with Museum priorities and programming.
  • Data & Reporting — Maintain donor databases, track fundraising progress, and prepare reports for leadership and the board.
  • Community Representation — Serve as an ambassador for the museum at community events, networking opportunities, and partner meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or related fields.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and relationship building.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with donor management software and fundraising best practices.
  • Passion for children’s learning, community engagement, and mission driven work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

 

 

 

Job Type: Full-time, hourly non-exempt (40 hours per week)

Hybrid

Pay Range:

50,000-60,000 for those with 3-5 years of experience – advanced degree can be substituted for two years of experience.

60,000-70,000 for those with 5-10 years of experience – advanced degree can be substituted for two years of experience.
