Primary Purpose of Position:
Fort Ticonderoga seeks a creative and detail-oriented Education Content Coordinator with a strong background in education, curriculum design, or literacy. This role will support the Education department by adapting historical content developed across departments into engaging and age-appropriate educational resources for digital platforms. The Education Content Coordinator will work closely with subject-matter experts, particularly in the Education, Curatorial, Collections, and Public History Teams, to transform complex historical narratives into accessible scripts, lesson plans, and interactive content that meets K-12 learning standards. The Education Content Coordinator will report to the Senior Director of Education and collaborate closely with content experts across departments to ensure the seamless integration of historical materials into digital education resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Content Development: Adapt cross-departmental content into digital learning resources suitable for various age groups and educational settings, ensuring alignment with K-12 standards.
- Scriptwriting and Lesson Planning: Collaborate with historians and content experts to create digestible scripts for video content, user-friendly text for lesson plans, and supplemental materials, focusing on clarity and engagement.
- Educational Standards Compliance: Ensure all digital content aligns with curriculum frameworks such as Common Core and C3 to support teachers and enhance classroom learning experiences.
- Collaboration and Feedback: Engage with educators, the Teacher Advisory Group, and other stakeholders to refine educational resources based on community needs and feedback.
- Digital Resource Optimization: Develop content in formats suitable for various digital platforms, making historical education interactive and accessible for a diverse audience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional best practices, and digital literacy.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and accessibility.
- Familiarity with classroom setting, museum-based learning, object-based pedagogy, and historical interpretation.
- Proficient in adapting complex information for younger audiences in a compelling, educational format.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and adapt content based on feedback.
Work Schedule:
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, occasional travel and weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required on a scheduled basis
Salary Range and Benefit Information:
This is a temporary, full-time, benefit eligible, two-year grant-funded position with a salary range of $40,000-$46,000 annually reporting to to Joseph Stoltz, Fort Ticonderoga’s Senior Director of Education.
