The Saratoga Springs History Museum, established in 1883 and housed in the historic Canfield Casino in Congress Park, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Saratoga Springs. Our museum features dynamic exhibitions, public programs, and research resources that serve the community and visitors alike. 

We are seeking a Development Officer to help advance our mission by strengthening community support and expanding our fundraising efforts.

About the Role

This part-time position (20–30 hours per week) plays a vital role in securing financial support for the museum. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Officer leads fundraising initiatives, builds donor relationships, and identifies new opportunities for revenue growth. 

Schedule: Weekdays with occasional weekends for events 

What You’ll Do

As Development Officer, you will:

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Plan and support fundraising activities and events 
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with new, current, and past donors 
  • Identify and pursue corporate sponsorships and individual giving opportunities

Grants & Revenue Growth

  • Research, apply for, and manage grant funding opportunities 
  • Seek new funding streams to support museum programs and initiatives 

Membership & Campaigns

  • Manage and grow the museum’s membership program 
  • Implement annual fundraising appeals to achieve budgeted goals 

Relationship Building & Outreach

  • Strengthen relationships with community stakeholders 
  • Represent the museum at networking and community events 

Development Operations

  • Maintain and update the donor database 
  • Prepare and send donor acknowledgments and communications 
  • Track and manage donor leads and engagement activities 

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising or development with demonstrated success 
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Compensation

$25–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience
